Felicity Mehendale

Felicity Vidya Mehendale MBBS, MS, FRCS, FRCS(Plast), Fellow EBOPRAS
Felicity is a plastic, reconstructive and cleft surgeon. She leads the Global Cleft Research Programme at the Centre for Global Health at The University of Edinburgh. She trained as a doctor and worked as a surgeon in Mumbai, India before moving to the United Kingdom.
She is past President of the International Confederation of Cleft Lip and Palate and Related Craniofacial Anomalies (ICCPCA) (2017–2021) and currently a member of the executive committee of the ICCPCA. She was Chair of Cleft 2022. She is past president of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland (CFSGBI). She is a member of the Smile Train Global Medical Advisory Board and Chair of the Smile Train’s global Research and Innovation Advisory Council.
Her research aims to improve quality of and access to healthcare for babies and children with cleft lip and palate and other birth conditions, by equitable sustainable capacity building, policy change, leveraging technology and AI, and breaking down data silos.
